Quick answer. Singapore has two cruise terminals: Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore at Marina South, which handles most large cruise ships, and the Singapore Cruise Centre at HarbourFront, which serves smaller cruise ships and regional ferries. Your cruise ticket or booking confirmation names the terminal. Always check it, as they are on opposite sides of the city centre.

Plenty of cruise passengers assume there is only one terminal in Singapore. There are two, and they are not next to each other. Getting the wrong one on embarkation day is stressful.

This guide explains the difference, how to check yours, and how to plan the trip there and back.

Which cruise lines sail from MBCC vs Singapore Cruise Centre

Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore (MBCCS)

Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore is at Marina South, near Gardens by the Bay and the Marina South Pier. It was built for large modern cruise ships.

Most big international ships homeporting in Singapore, including Royal Caribbean’s ships, have used this terminal. Many other major lines call here too.

Singapore Cruise Centre at HarbourFront

The Singapore Cruise Centre runs the terminal at HarbourFront, next to VivoCity and the Sentosa link. Its international cruise terminal handles smaller cruise ships. The HarbourFront Centre also has a regional ferry terminal for services to Indonesia.

Why you should not rely on the cruise line alone

Ship deployments change every season. A line can use different terminals for different ships, or move a sailing for operational reasons. The only reliable answer is your own booking.

How to tell which terminal is on your booking

Check these, in order:

  1. Your cruise e-ticket or boarding documents. The embarkation port and terminal name are usually listed.
  2. Your cruise line’s app or online booking page. It often shows check-in times and terminal details.
  3. The terminal operators’ websites. Both terminals publish ship schedules.
  4. Your travel agent, if you booked through one.

Look for the words “Marina Bay Cruise Centre” or “HarbourFront”. If it only says “Singapore”, contact the cruise line and ask.

Getting there from Changi: times and the right car for luggage

Many passengers fly into Changi on the day of sailing. Both terminals are a cross-city drive from the airport.

From Changi to Usual route Typical drive time with normal traffic
Marina Bay Cruise Centre East Coast Parkway or Marina Coastal Expressway Around 20 to 30 minutes
HarbourFront Through the city to the south-west Around 25 to 40 minutes

These are rough figures. Peak hour traffic, rain and road works can make it longer. If your flight lands on the morning of sailing, leave a generous buffer.

Picking a car for cruise luggage

Cruise luggage is usually larger than city-break luggage. Formal wear, more days away and souvenirs all add up.

  • Two people with two large cases: Mercedes E-Class or Toyota Noah/Voxy.
  • A family of four to six with five large cases: Toyota Alphard or Vellfire.
  • Up to seven passengers, five bags: Mercedes V-Class.
  • A group or extended family: 13-seater minibus, which takes 10 bags, or a coach for bigger parties.

Do not try to squeeze four large cruise cases into a sedan. Tell us your real bag count and we will suggest the right car.

Drop-off points and check-in timing

Both terminals have a passenger drop-off area at the front of the building. Porters may be available to take checked luggage at the kerb, depending on the cruise line’s arrangements.

Your cruise line gives you a check-in time or window. Aim to arrive at the start of it, not the end. Late passengers risk being refused boarding.

A few things to sort before you get in the car:

  • Passports, cruise documents and any required travel forms in a hand bag, not in the suitcase.
  • Luggage tags from the cruise line already attached.
  • Medication and valuables in your hand carry.

Using Marina South Pier as a reference

Marina Bay Cruise Centre is near Marina South Pier, which serves ferries to the Southern Islands. They are different buildings. Make sure your driver has the cruise centre as the destination, not the pier.

Getting home after disembarkation

Disembarkation day is busy. Thousands of passengers leave the ship over a few hours, and the taxi queue can be long.

Pre-booking your car avoids that queue. To plan your pickup time:

  1. Check your cruise line’s disembarkation schedule. Passengers usually leave in groups.
  2. If you choose to carry your own luggage off early, you will be out sooner.
  3. Allow time for immigration and baggage collection in the terminal.
  4. Send us your expected exit time, and message the driver when you are through.

If you are flying out the same day, check your flight time against the disembarkation schedule. Leave plenty of margin for the drive to Changi and airport check-in. We can take you straight from the terminal to your departure.

Staying on in Singapore

If you are spending a night or two in the city, an hourly charter can also give you a short tour on the way to your hotel. Hourly hire starts from $55 per hour for a Toyota Noah or Voxy, with a 4-hour minimum.

Arriving the day before your cruise

Many passengers fly in a day early. It removes the risk of a delayed flight costing you the sailing.

If you do, pick a hotel that makes the morning easy. For Marina Bay Cruise Centre, hotels around Marina Bay and the city centre are a short drive. For HarbourFront, hotels near VivoCity or Sentosa are close by.

On sailing day, book your car for the start of your check-in window. A short drive gives you room for traffic and for a late breakfast without rushing.

Common mistakes on embarkation day

  • Going to the wrong terminal. This is the big one. Check the terminal name on your documents, not just the city.
  • Confusing Marina South Pier with the cruise centre. They are near each other but are different buildings.
  • Packing passports in checked bags. Keep them in your hand carry, along with medication and anything valuable.
  • Booking a car too small. Cruise luggage is bigger than you think. Count every case and bag.
  • Leaving too little time from Changi. Immigration and baggage collection at the airport can take a while on a busy morning.
  • Forgetting the return. Disembarkation morning is busy. Book your pickup when you book your drop-off.

Before you travel, check your cruise line’s latest requirements for documents and any forms you need for the ports you will visit.

Travelling with older relatives or reduced mobility

Cruises are popular with older travellers, and terminal days involve a fair amount of walking and waiting. A few things help.

  • Choose a car with easy access. The sliding doors on the Toyota Alphard and Mercedes V-Class make getting in and out simpler than a low sedan.
  • Ask your cruise line in advance about wheelchair assistance at the terminal.
  • Tell us about any mobility needs when you book, so the driver can drop you as close to the entrance as the terminal allows.

What to send us when you book

To get the car and timing right, include your terminal name, sailing date and check-in window, your flight number if you are coming from Changi, the number of passengers and the number of large cases. For the return, add your expected disembarkation time and your next stop, whether that is a hotel, your home or the airport.

Book your cruise terminal transfer

We drive to both cruise terminals, as well as Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal, Changi Point and Marina South Pier. See our cruise and ferry terminal transfer service for details.

Send your terminal, sailing date, flight number if you are coming from Changi, passenger count and luggage through the booking page. We will confirm a fixed price and arrange your cruise terminal pickup for the return as well.
